How do we know what category we should compete in?

Category "A" is for Men (Male/Male) teams, experienced Mixed (Male/Female) teams and very strong Adult/Junior teams. Adult/Junior teams will fall into the mixed category if the stoker is under 18 years of age.
We suggest the "A" category if:
- You have a lot of racing experience
- You race to win, and you expect a challenge
- You are a category 3 or better racer, and so is your captain or stoker
- The mileage and descriptions of the A courses do not frighten you
- You're very competitive
- You expect the racers in your category to be as talented and strong as you are
- You have previously had a top 3 placing in our B category
Category "B" is for Masters teams (combined age of 100 yeas or more), strong recreational Mixed (Male/Female) teams and strong Adult/Junior teams, such as those who have previously won the "C" category. Adult/Junior teams will fall into the Mixed category if the stoker is under 18 years of age.
We recommend the "B" category if:
- You're racing only to have fun
- You do not expect to win, but want to be challenged
- You or your partner are not a licensed bicycle racer
- You or your partner are licensed category 4 or 5
- The mileage and course descriptions of the A race seem daunting
- The competition is not as important as the experience
- You expect to ride with riders of various abilities, but you don't want to race against "pro's"
- You have previously had a top 3 placing in our C category
Category "C" is designed for Parent/Child teams and Mixed (Male/Female) teams with very little or no racing experience. Note: Trail-a-Bike or Trailercycle attachments are welcome in the "C" category. We recommend the "C" category if:
- You are a parent racing with your child (under 14 years of age)
- You're racing your tandem for the first time
- You want to be challenged in a safe environment
- You and your partner are not licensed bicycle racers
- The mileage and course descriptions of the B race seem daunting
- The competition is not as important as the experience

"C" Category Adult/Child (child under 14 years) Prizes:
- Cash and some merchandise prizes for top three places, including medals.
- Every child particpant wins a prize!
"C" Category Mixed (Male/female adults) Prizes:
- Cash and some merchandise prizes for top three places, including medals.
