This is an Oregon Bicycle Racing Association sanctioned race. Event-only OBRA membership will be provided free for out-of state competitors competing in the Co-Motion Classic Tandem Stage Race
July 25th through 27th, 2008
Rules for participating in the Co-Motion Classic Tandem Race
1. The race is divided into three groups, A, B and C. “A” is the open class for faster pairs (cat 1/2/3) who want to do more miles. “B” is the restricted class for Category 4/5 riders, including Masters, Juniors, Women and new racers. The "C" group is for unlicensed pairs who would like try some tandem racing in a safe and fun environment. Mixed pairs (male/female) are welcome in all groups. Male/male pairs are better suited to the "A's" unless the team is made up of category 4/5 men or qualifies as Masters with a combined age of 100+ then they may qualify to ride with the "B" category. The race director reserves the right to move any pair to another group.
2. Prizes go three deep for each category (men, mixed, masters) and include cash, medals and merchandise.
3. Teams are requested to wear the same color combinations for the duration of the event. For example, if for the first stage, the captain wears red and the stoker wears red then that is the combination that team will wear for the remaining stages. The team does not have to match but the same combinations should be used during the race.
4. Masters is defined as any team having combined ages of 100 or higher.
5. Any pair that misses their Time Trial start due to technical difficulties will be given the same time as the slowest pair in their group.
6. All stages will be run “rain or shine”, but the race director reserves the right to change any course for safety reasons.
7. Race Support is “wheels in/wheels out”, so any spares must be labeled with matching race numbers. Co-Motion will provide a few sets of neutral wheels, but we can’t guaranty that they will fit your bike or the gearing that you use, so it’s best if you provide your own wheels. Neutral technical support will be provided.
8. Each rider must sign an OBRA waiver.
9. There is only one “Feed Zone” for this event. It is on the Sunday stage at the top of Timber Ridge, the last major climb on Wolf Creek Road.
10. At all times, riders must appear to be having fun.
