The 2008 Co-Motion Classic Tandem Race
July 25th-27th, 2008
Eugene Oregon

The Seventh Edition

...of the nation’s premier annual tandem racing event. A venue for competitive tandem cyclists to have some fun here in the superb cycling mecca of Lane County. The Co-Motion Claissic is a great place to try racing for your first time, to test your fitness as you improve your tandem team strength, or for seasoned racers to test their mettle against the very best tandem riders in the country.

Three stages:
Friday AM - Meet the Competitors Fun Ride.

This 30 mile moderately paced pleasure cruise is open to Co-Motion Classic competitors, and anyone else who wants to enjoy the scenery of the Lorane Valley from the front or back of a tandem. We will leave from Co-Motion at 10am and return before noon.

Race Director Sal Collura will lead this ride with his mystery stoker.

Friday PM - Registration/Check-In.

Racers can pick up their packets, get TT start times, or take care of their late registrations. We will be open for business at Co-Motion at 1pm. One Co-Motion Shop Tour will be held for all who wish to see the shop at 3:00PM

Stage 1: Saturday AM - Kent Peterson Time Trial.

This 12K out-and-back TT is relatively flat and windswept, with a small downhill at the start, and a small uphill at the halfway point. It will be fast and smooth, so discs and light wheels will be AOK.

Stage 2: Saturday PM - Co-Motion Criterium.

This 1K wide open safe course is a great venue for tandem racing, and after the tandems are done, it will play host to single races as well. So, plan to stick around and enjoy the show.

Stage 3: Sunday AM - Wolf Creek Road Race.

This is an epic stage, and an old standard for the Co-Motion Classic. This year, we will start and finish at King Estate Winery, where the views, the food, the service and the setting is outstanding. Make sure you are hungry and thirsty when you finish.

Co-Motion Cycles invites the return of all past Co-Motion Classic competitors, as well as competitive tandem cyclists from USCF racers to novices.

The fields: A, B and C level categories, limited to 50 tandems in each field. Mixed and matched-gender teams welcome in the A and B fields. The C category is restricted to mixed (male/female) teams except adult/child pairs where one member of the team is under age 14. Register early!

When: Friday, July 25th through Sunday July 27th, 2008

Challenging courses ...in the beautiful hills and valleys in and around Eugene, Oregon.

Race registration fee for the A and B categories is $100 per tandem by June 30. Registration after June 30 is $125 per tandem. The registration fee for the C category is $50. After June 30th, $60

As an added incentive for returning riders, if you introduce a new team of racers to the CCTR and mail your registration in the same envelope as theirs, take 10% off of your registration fee!
Out-of-state riders and non-registered riders will need to pay a $5.00 per rider fee, good for the entire event.

Read the CCTR blog!

CCTR's race director since the beginning has been Sal Collura. Sal knows this race better than anyone, and he thinks that you want hear what he has to say. We'll let you be the judge. We'll post his comments and subtle smack-downs here. You can write back and say anything that's appropriate and we'll post your comments and photos too. This blog won't be a free-for-all, let's keep it clean and on the topic of tandem racing- specifically the Co-Motion Classic Tandem Race.
