Ribbon of Road Tour, Chapter Two
Gregg Bleakney and Brooks Allen continue their epic Alaska to Tierra del Fuego bike tour on their Co-Motion Americanos.
"...Two miles later, we were attacked again by two men wearing black masks and carrying machetes. They sprinted out of the jungle and were upon us in only a few seconds making it impossible to escape. We put our hands over our heads as they struck us several times with the blunt sides of their machetes and attempted to tear our pannier bags off the bikes".
If you'd like to read the entire account, just go to Ribbon of Road and get all of the exciting details.
We're pleased to report that they are both unhurt and continuing their ride to the tip of South America and that their Americano touring bikes are holding up to the rigors of this journey. So far they've made it to Central America and traveled some of the most remote and rough roads in the world. We'll check in again with them but I'm guessing it's only going to get more interesting.
Brooks and Gregg are doing this trip to raise money for diabetes research after Brooks' mother died of the disease. You can contribute to their goal of $50,001 by clicking here.
The last we heard from them they were in southern Mexico and had just had a harrowing encounter with roadside bandits.
