We’re very happy with the response and turnout last week at Interbike Outdoor Demo as well as indoor InterBike Show last week in Las Vegas. It’s great to connect with our dealers, who attend the show to absorb as much information as they can. It’s a daunting task for all bike dealers, as most bike brands make at least some minor changes to their bike lines each year.
For Co-Motion Cycles, opening day of the Interbike show marks the beginning of each new model year. Browse our web pages for each bike model and you’ll see 2011 models and information posted. 2011 is a significant year for us, as we have redesigned every Co-Motion tandem and single model, from the Ristretto to the Robusta.
In tandems, both the Primera and the Mocha have changed a great deal, as their frames have a semi-compact design with no lateral tube. The semi-compact design improves stand-over clearance, making each frame size suitable for a broader range of riders. Along with the Mocha and Primera’s design change comes a drivetrain change to Shimano 105, which helps make for very attractive pricing for these new beauties, which we’re proud to say are still made right here in our Eugene, OR facility.
The tandems with the fattest price tags usually get more attention, and this year’s Macchiato (equipped with our new Co-Motion Tandem Elite Carbon fork and SRAM Red/XX 2×10 kit) and our belt-drive Speedster Rohloff each garnered plenty of “oohs” and “ahhs”. We enjoy showing off our new rides as much as our dealers enjoy seeing the bikes that they’ll soon be fielding questions about from their clients.
A deeper look into our 2011 tandems will reveal a more subtle change to the line. All tandem sizing is now listed in centimeters, and we’ve re-worked each frame size to make it more size appropriate, with the goal of ensuring that our range of standard sizes reduces need for custom-sized tandems (yes, we still offer custom work). Click on the geometry tab, and you’ll see a more comprehensive listing than we’ve ever shown before.
All Co-Motion single (non-tandem) bike models also have been redesigned for 2011. Every frame has a semi-compact design for improved stand-over clearance and positioning. More details are shown for each model, from the all-new CityView model to the new Co-Motion LR Carbon fork on our 2011 Nor’Wester. We hope you like what you see as much as Interbike’s attendees did!
You will continue to see more photos, details and improvements to our website in the coming weeks. While new models are all posted, we know you’re anxious to see a closer look. Ben Moore, our new in-house marketing guy and web wizard will continue adding content and features to bring the bikes into clearer focus than ever before.
Thanks to all of you who were not attending Interbike last week, for your patience and understanding while the Co-Motion shop was closed. Nearly half of our staff set up and ran the Interbike outdoor and indoor events for Co-Motion. We, as well as the rest of the Co-Motion crew are glad to be back in Oregon and back to work, and we look forward to hearing from you very soon.
