We got our new Robusta and it is the perfect bike for us. Ben and Dwan worked with us to help us pick the best bike for us and make sure it would fit us right. We have commuted to work together for the last 2 weeks and rode it on a Century ride Sunday. The difference between it and our old tandem is incredible. It is so stable at fast twisty downhills and will go all day on the flats. We rode our 100 miles in about 90 minutes faster than we normally ride 100 miles and both my wife and I felt good after the ride. The bike really smooths out rougher sections of the road. My only regret is we didn’t buy this bike 10 years ago.

It’s difficult to evaluate the different tandems in the Co-Motion line up because they are so very similar in their handling characteristics and differ really only in weight and minimally in responsiveness, in my opinion and experience.
The Robusta is a machine that is somewhere between the Speedster and Macchiato, closer to the Macchiato. It is light and quick, meaning it accelerates quickly and easily, yet handling is very solid - it goes where you are thinking and doesn’t try to go off on its own at all. I think there might be a very minimal feeling of increased stability on the Robusta over the Macchiato, though minimal. It probably is not quite as versatile as the Speedster which can be a sporty club ride bike and a heavy duty tourer - I guess I think the Robusta is more of a sporty club ride bike. However, I have to say we have ridden it on century rides and it is quite comfortable over the long ride. As with other Co-Motion tandems, it behaves as an extension of our bodies - we tend not to be aware it is there. And, as with all Co-Motion tandems I’ve ever captained, you can ride no hands, stoker or not, pedaling or coasting.
I told Dwan, it is my opinion that if you were stranded on a desert island and could have only one food, it should be peanut butter.
If you could have only one medicine, it should be aspirin.
If you could have only one tandem, it should be a Co-Motion Robusta.
Just my opinion.
